Waldoboro police beat: Criminal threatening, criminal mischief
WALDOBORO — An otherwise fine day celebrating Waldoboro Fire Department’s 175th anniversary parade Aug. 10 was marred by a man allegedly displaying a knife and threatening another man. Waldoboro police reported that at approximately 2:15 p.m., they responded to a disturbance in front of the VFW Hall on Mill Street.
Police said that Lance Kenyan, 20, of Nobleboro, threatened another man, who was walking along the street watching the parade with his daughter; a knife was displayed during the incident, police said. Kenyan was arrested without incident and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a felony, the report said. The case remains under investigation.
In other police business business, Waldoboro officers responded to 178 calls for service from Aug. 1 to Aug. 15. Below are a few of the highlights.
Aug. 5
Officer Jeffery Fuller summonsed Matthew Kinney, 29, of Bremen on a warrant.
Officer Thomas Bartunek is investigating a report of the theft of a package.
Aug. 6
Detective Jason Benefield is investigating a report from Hall's Funeral Home of criminal mischief to a garage door and hearse, approximately $1,716 total damage.
Aug. 8
Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 12:05 a.m. According to the report, James Grover, Jr., 19, of Newcastle, was driving a 2005 Honda sedan, traveling south on Atlantic Highway. He lost control of the vehicle trying to avoid a deer, went off the roadway and rolled. There were possible injuries to a passenger.
Detective Jason Benefield arrested Jason Hall, 42, of Hope, for operating under the influence.
Aug. 9
Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from Sharon Bullock of burglary.
Aug. 10
Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report of the theft of some items from a purse.
Officer Jeremy Joslyn arrested Lane Kenyon, 20, of Nobleboro for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Aug. 11
Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report of a burglary with approximately $200 taken.
He is also is investigating a report that someone threw a rock and broke a window.
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 1:51 p.m. Francois Gagnon, 55, of Quebec, was driving a 2012 Toyota sedan. Roy Cormier, 66, of Quebec, was driving a 2010 Ford pickup truck. Gagnon was following too closely behind Cormier, the report said, and struck the truck as Cormier attempted to make a left turn into a driveway. A passenger in the Toyota, Ariane Pelletier, was injured.
Aug. 12
Officer Thomas Bartunek summonsed Ashley Ward for an unregistered motor vehicle and uninspected motor vehicle.
