ROCKLAND — A Rockland man who was arrested by State Police in June for possessing child pornography will serve five months in prison. 

Douglas Mills, 68, was sentenced Aug. 15 in Knox County Unified Court for possessing sexually explicit material of a minor under 12-years-old.

His full sentence includes three years in jail with all but five months suspended and two years of probation. He must also register with the sex offender registry.

Mills was arrested June 19 by agents with the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Rockland Police. He had been under investigation since January.

His home at 41 Pleasant Street in Rockland was searched in May. An analysis of Mill’s electronic equipment revealed images of child pornography, according to a news release. He was charged with possession of sexually explicit material.

Mills has remained at the Knox County Jail since he was arrested in June.

The probation division of the Maine Department of Corrections was also involved in the investigation.
