Midcoast still without power in large numbers; St. George takes hardest hit
MIDCOAST — A storm that packed strong winds, first blowing out of the south and southwest and then around from the north, down many trees, closing roads and cutting electricity to thousands of Central Maine Power customers. The outages persist through the weekend, with 3,094 without power in Knox County and 2,537 in Waldo County, as of late morning, Saturday.
Other CMP-served counties having even rougher times with power outages are Lincoln, with more than 6,000; Somerset, Franklin and Cumberland, with more than 4,000 customers each without elecricity.
Lincolnville, Northport and St. George are the areas where the most customers remain without power.
CMP has circulated no restoration notices as of Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Emera, the other power company in Maine, is dealing with a similar bleak number of outages Down East and in northern Maine.
