Lincolnville police report uptick in thefts
Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young circulated a warning late Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 19, of numerous thefts plaguing the town. Young reported that his department is investigating six theft incidents that occured over the past nine days.
Thieves stole cash from a locked cashbox from a roadside stand; iPods, a wallet and electronics from cars; and cash and equipment from other cars, a boat, and from homes.
The thefts have occured in different parts of town, including separate recreation areas where unlocked cars had been parked.
Young reported his department also received four reported burglary complaints during August, all of which remain under investigation.
He recommends citizens lock their vehicles and discourages leaving valuables — cash, electronics or CDs — in the vehicle or where they would be obviously detected. Anyone with information regarding the theft or burglary crimes is urged to contact Young at Lincolnville Police Department, 763-3555.
