Lincoln County pair arrested at Rockland ferry terminal on drug trafficking charges
ROCKLAND — Police arrested two Lincoln County men as they were waiting to board the Rockland ferry to Vinalhaven late Tuesday morning and charged them with trafficking in drugs.
The arrests of 33-year-old Andrew Goupil of Wiscasset and Joseph Dupaw, 68, of Dresden, stemmed from an investigation into the sale of hundreds of oxycodone pills in Lincoln and Knox counties over several months, according to state Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Knox and Lincoln County Sheriff's Offices, and the Wiscasset and Rockland Police Departments.
According to McCausland, the arrest occurred around 10:30 a.m. MDEA Supervisory Special Agent Jim Pease said 200 pills were seized in the arrest, along with $1,500 cash.
Pease estimated the street value of the drugs at $7,000.
Both men were taken to Knox County Jail. Goupil is charged with aggravated trafficking and has two prior drug convictions, according to a press release. Dupaw is charged with trafficking and violating bail conditions from a recent arrest in Lincoln County.
