Jean H. Wiggin
OWLS HEAD – Jean H. Wiggin, 71, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, with her husband at her side.
Born in Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of Francis and Laurette Howard. Jean spent most of her childhood in Saco and her family later moved to Rockland, where she graduated from Rockland High School in 1960. She later graduated from business college in Portland.
On Aug. 15, 1964, Jean married Eugene W. Wiggin in Rockland. They recently enjoyed celebrating their 48th anniversary.
While raising their sons, Jean worked locally at several jobs. For 28 years, she worked at Consumers Water Company, retiring in 2004.
She was a longtime member of Rockland Congregational Church, where she enjoyed participating with the Hand Bell Choir.
One of Jean’s greatest pleasures was entertaining residents in local nursing and retirement homes with her husband and the Swingtimers Band.
Jean was pre-deceased by her father in 2003. She is survived by her mother, Laurette of Rockland; her beloved husband, Eugene of Owls Head; two sons, Bill Wiggin and Steven Wiggin; her brother, Frances M. Howard Jr. of Ocala, FL., and one granddaughter, Kimberly Wiggin.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Village Cemetery on Dublin Road in South Thomaston. The Rev. Seth D. Jones will officiate.
