Friday accident in Lincolnville downs pole on Route 1

LINCOLNVILLE — Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young said the driver of a pickup truck gave "way too much credit" to his tires on slick, snowy Route 1 Friday afternoon and lost control, spinning around in the roadway before severing a utility pole at its base.
Brandon Jimenez-Roberts, 20, of Skowhegan, was driving a 2005 GMC 2500 pickup with big, lifted tires south on Route 1 when he lost control, just past Viking Lumber.
The pole came to rest in the bed of Jimenez-Roberts' truck. He was not injured.
The accident occured around 2:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Lincolnville Fire Department responded to the scene and Central Maine Power removed the pole, which had no power to it, according to Young.
"The driver gave way too much credit to his tires, a little inexperienced. Thought the tires would handle anything," said Young.
