Belmont man arrested for pushing woman, putting another in headlock
BELMONT — Waldo County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Belmont man late Sunday night after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend and then placed her friend into a headlock.
Michael Lewis, 27, was arrested April 5 and charged with domestic assault, class D, criminal mischief, class D, resisting arrest or detention, class D, and aggravated assault, class C.
The charges against Lewis came after deputies were called to a residence on Lincolnville Avenue in Belmont around 10 p.m. Deputies Kevin Littlefield and Dan Thompson responded, along with Sgt. James Greeley.
When the deputies arrived, Lewis was in his vehicle, but he exited and refused to comply with orders from Littlefield and instead, entered the residence and locked the door behind him.
According to a press release, Littlefield was allowed access to the home by the female caller.
During interviews with the female caller and a female friend, who were both at the residence during the altercation, according to the release, Littlefield learned that Lewis and his girlfriend had argued and as a result he pushed her.
When her friend attempted to defend her, Lewis placed his girlfriend's friend into a headlock with so much force she could not breathe," said the release. "Lewis also backed his truck into his girlfriend's car causing damage to her vehicle."
Lewis was taken to Waldo County Jail, and was being held on $1,000 cash or $5,000 surety bail.
