Belfast man one of two Lincoln County Jail inmates implicated in filing false sexual assault complaint
WISCASSET — A Lincoln County Sheriff’s detective has charged a pair of Two Bridges Regional Jail inmates with crimes related to filing a false sexual assault complaint against a female corrections officer.
On March 21, Detective Terry Michaud received a complaint from the jail staff that an inmate had reported being sexually assaulted by corrections officer. According to a press release, inmate Brandon Knowles, 25, from the Bangor area, stated that while in a secluded area of the jail, a female corrections officer touched his genitals without his permission.
A second Inmate, Cory Breen, 26, of Belfast, allegedly backed up Knowles' report by stating he was in the same area when the alleged assault took place, according to the release.
After reviewing security footage and conducting numerous interviews, Michaud’s investigation determined that the complaint had been fabricated by Knowles and Breen and the alleged assault had never taken place.
Knowles was charged with false public alarm/feport and Breen was charged with hindering investigation.
