It's getting to be spring....
In Appleton: Fixing the Jones Hill Road washout
Wed, 03/13/2013 - 9:45pm
APPLETON — Copious rain fell hard over the night, and Appleton residents woke up to a Jones Hill Road washout. Spring has sprung. There is a small swamp on both sides of the Jones Hill Road, and Appleton's road commissioner, Curtis Starrett, repaired it with some some rocks and gravel. Neighborhood children took advantage of the rain damage to add to their rock collection.
The weather was caused by low pressure that tracked across Quebec and dragged a cold front across Maine, according to the National Weather Service. There was heavy rain overnight, and that, combined with mild temperatures, melted the snowpack and pushed rivers and streams to near bankfull.
