American Legion recognizes Bangor Savings for patriotism

CAMDEN — Another local business was honored by the Camden American Legion Post No. 30 as a recipient of a Certificate of Recognition for Proper American Flag Display.
Bangor Savings was recognized June 30 for showing their patriotism by flying the flag in front of their Camden branch. Jala Tooley, teller, took the initiative to display the flag and also has taken responsibility for its upkeep.
Tooley said she is proud to display the flag which is illuminated and remains flying after dark. Whenever it needs to be replaced from age and getting tattered, she finds herself folding it neatly before passing it along to a local Boy Scout Troop to have it disposed of properly.
The Legion initiated this new community based program in May that recognizes a difference business each month within the community for proper display of the American Flag.
“We plan to continue this recognition program so we can encourage more local businesses to participate by recognizing them,” said Jeff Sukeforth, Post Adjutant and Legionnaire member.
The American Legion is the world’s largest Veteran’s organization with a support group of more than 2.5 members. “Still Serving America” is the motto of the American Legion with veterans continuing their service to America by serving their communities. The American Legion is the nation’s largest and most respected organizations of wartime veterans, according to a press release from Sukeforth.
