Robert D. Emery, obituary
ROCKLAND — Our beloved father and brother in Christ, Robert “Bob or Bobby” D. Emery, age 79, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rockland, February 11, 1947, he was the son of Richard L. and Harriet Moran Emery.
He was educated in local schools and graduated from Rockland High School in 1966. He worked at FMC/Marine Colloids for 25 years then Weatherend Estate Furniture and before retiring early due to health issues he worked with a couple of local, self-employed painters.
Robert was formerly married to Linda Lewis with whom he shared three girls, but years later they divorced. A few years later he married Kathy Ulmer who had two boys and a girl of her own. This marriage ended in divorce but Robert remained friends and stayed involved with all the children and later the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert loved camping, four wheeling, fishing and hunting, making many fond memories with friends and family over the years. He loved to read, paint, draw and follow his favorite baseball and football teams.
About five years ago Robert renewed his faith in Christ. He became a member of The First Baptist Church of St. George June 18, 2023 and was baptized October 5, 2025. He loved his church and church family. He lived by our church mission To Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples. His favorite verse in the Bible was John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Robert was predeceased by his father, Richard L. Emery, on June 8, 2000, and his mother, Harriet Moran Emery, on October 4, 2002.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Hyvarinen and her husband Michael of St. George, Doreen Witham and her husband Corey of Warren, Denise Emery and her husband Matthew Blethying of New Mexico; two stepsons, Jason and Corey Firth; one stepdaughter, Amber Ulmer; four grandchildren, Shelby and spouse Ryan Meklin, Ethan and spouse Deanna Hyvarinen, Sarah and spouse Marco Ortiz, Sam Tarbox and partner Abbey Shields; three grandchildren by marriage, Candi, Makayla and Corey “Buddy”; twelve great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Lucas, Owen, Micah, Raevyn, Kennedi, Adley, Anitta, Tobias and Robert; five great-grandchildren by marriage, Noah, Abel, Kaden, Calli Anne, Gracie and Madeline; he is also survived by one brother, William “Bill” Emery; and sister-in-law Niecey Ross Emery of Michigan; one niece, Chrissie and spouse Scott Meinke of Michigan; one nephew, Darren and spouse Sheri Emery of Indiana; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
