    UNITY — Bobbie-Jo Margaret Ames, 40, passed away January 2, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness.  She was born October 28, 1977 to James and Joanne (Tucker) Ames.  She attended school in Belfast.  Bobbie-Jo enjoyed being with her family.  She loved having cookouts, playing video games and watching movies.

    CUSHING — Kenneth "Sonny" W. Sevon, 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine.

    Sonny was born on February 28th, 1940 in Camden, Maine to parents Kenneth A. Sevon and Florence (Dunlop) Sevon. Sonny attended local schools and like most children he would rather been outdoors playing and exploring than sitting inside the house.

    Joanne (Newton) LeSan, 67, of Farmingdale, passed away January 2, 2018 at Sussman House in Rockport. She was born January 10, 1950 in Appleton to Ronald and Madeline (Light) Newton. She worked at Halldale Manor as a CNA. After her retirement she had time to share her knitting and baked goods at craft fairs. Joanne loved finding a good yard sale as well as holding her own. Her grandchildren were very special to her, and she took great pleasure in sending them packages.

    Born in Rockland, February 10, 1926, she was the daughter of Everetta Allen Compton.  Educated in local schools, Gloria was a 1944 graduate of Rockland High School.   

    On February 23, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Franklin W. Spinney, in Rockland.

    Gail Miller (Whitaker) Marple, 67 of Waldo, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2017.

    She was born on September 12, 1950 in White Plains, New York, the daughter of William and Barbara (Emmans) Whitaker. Gail loved birds and her cat, Mitu. She was an avid outdoorswoman who loved exercise, especially swimming, biking and hiking. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles and boating on the lake.

    ROCKLAND – Raymond E. Withee, 76, went to be with God, his wife Georgene, parents Elmer and Genevieve and others he loved, December 22, 2017 at Country Manor in Copers Mills.

    Ray graduated from Rockland High school in 1960. He retired from the Maine Water Company after more than 30 years of service. Ray also worked as a part time police officer with the City of Rockland, an achievement of which he was very proud.

    He was a life-member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks.

    CAMDEN — Eva Phillips Thompson, 58, died December 29, 2017, a little over four years after being diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer.  During that time she was able to live a full and happy life that included celebrating the marriages of her two children, Cayla and Neil, birth of her grandson, Oliver, travels to Ireland, gardening, visiting all five of the Lost Bird Project sculptures, and being with family and friends as much as possible.

He moved to Yarmouth with his family in 1988.

     In the early morning of the winter solstice, Gerald E. Scott, 82, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed quietly after a period of declining health.

    Gerald was born October 23, 1935 in Bessemer, Pennsylvania, to Ada M. (Henderson) Scott and Joseph E. Scott.  He was the youngest of five children.  Gerald enjoyed growing up in Bessemer and had much success in athletics.  He still holds a record for scoring over 1,000 points on his high school basketball team.

    ROCKLAND – Marion Shuman Hall, 101, surrounded by the love and spirit of her family, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, 2017, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

    Born in Camden, October 15, 1916, she was the daughter of George A. and Edith M. Long Shuman.  She grew up at her family’s inn, the Homestead Inn, on High Street in Camden.  Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1934.  She also attended Gorham Normal School.

    She was born in Lewiston  to Dougald Stewart and Emma Mary (Gaudin) McCatherin. The family lived in Auburn until Jean was eight years old and then moved to Augusta.

    CAMDEN — Faustina Mae Ogier, 102, of Camden, died on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at The Homestead in Owls Head. Born in Prospect on April 26, 1915, she was the daughter of Howard S. and Katherine (Bowdoin) Leach. Her mother died when Faustina was 18 months old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Jessie and Richard Ashworth and was a graduate of Eastern Maine Conference Seminary (high school) in Bucksport. On April 23, 1948, she married Harold "Buck" F. Ogier in Newport.
