    ROCKLAND — Marion L. Goss, 99, died peacefully July 5, 2013, at Bartlett Woods.

    Born in Rockland June 29, 1914, she was the daughter of Herbert R. and Adlema Higgins Mullen. Educated locally, she was a 1932 graduate of Rockland High School.

    Marion was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church in Rockland.

    ROCKLAND — Richard Winslow Sykes, 84, of Masonic Street, died suddenly July 5, 2013, at his home. Mr. Sykes was born in New York City Aug. 13, 1928, the son of the late Robert J. and Ruth G. (Lord) Sykes. He attended Storm King Preparatory School and graduated from Fordham University, class of 1954, with a degree in English.

    Following college he served with the 2nd Armored Division in Germany as a first lieutenant.

    LINCOLNVILLE — Frances Locke Rankin, 71, of Lincolnville, died June 21, 2013, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. Born in Portland May 23, 1942, she was the daughter of James and Arline (Gray) Locke. She was a graduate of Bucksport High School and married Wayne G. Rankin March 29, 1963, in Belfast. They lived in Vermont for seven years and returned to Maine in 1974, settling in Lincolnville.

    CAMDEN — Patricia Mary (McGrath) Cokinis, 82, beloved wife of Nicholas Cokinis, passed away peacefully at her home June 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Camden Jan. 23, 1931, she was the precious first child of Francis Patrick and Phyllis Mary (Stratton) McGrath. On Feb. 7, 1952, she married Nicholas Cokinis of Rockland, a handsome young man that she had met while riding the Tolman Bus Line, which operated between Thomaston and Camden.

    ROCKLAND — Norma "Nana" Ames, 90, went to be with her Lord June 22, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

    Born in Rockland Nov. 26, 1922, she was the daughter of Norman P. and Ursula Reynolds Richards. She was educated in Rockland schools.

    Except for a brief period when they were first married, Norma and her husband, Dennis E. Ames, lived on Washington Street all their married lives.

    Nana worked many years at F. J. O'Hara & Son Seafood in Rockland.

    ST. GEORGE — Randy A. Harjula, 53, died June 23, 2013, after a brief illness.

    Born in Rockland Dec. 4, 1959, he was the son of David E. and Roxanna Tabbutt Harjula. He attended Cushing and St. George schools and Georges Valley High School.

    Randy worked as a commercial shellfish harvester.

    He was an avid sport fisherman, both on salt and fresh water.

    ROCKPORT — Suzanne Bennett Voorhies, 88, passed away June 20, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

    She was born March 22, 1925, in the village of Babylon, N.Y., the daughter of Jacobus and Sarah Bennett Voorhies. She grew up with her brother, Peter, in Babylon, where she became a skilled and avid sailor. She attended Babylon High School and graduated from Barnard College in the class of 1946.

    While growing up in Virginia Beach, at the age of 17, she met and on Feb. 27, 1959, married the love of her life, William F. Iliffe. They shared 54 years of marriage.

When his mother died in 1933 he was adopted by Lillian's brother, George Sterling Putnam and his wife, Linnie, and grew up in Camden, graduating in Camden High School's class of 1949. He then attended the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor for a year of study before entering the U.S.

    For more than 37 years, Miss Bray taught first- and second-grades at the Herbert Gray Elementary School in Old Town.

    Kevin's family was most important in his life, especially his mom and dad, who always supported him throughout. He dearly loved his grandparents, Donald and Shirley Crute.

    Born on Mount Desert Island July 19, 1925, he was the son of George E. and Flora Benson Mills. He grew up on the St. George peninsula, where he attended local schools.

    As a teenager, George apprenticed in a Rockland machine shop. He later worked in Boston and then at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, Mass., where he became a tool and die maker.

    VINALHAVEN — Priscilla Lewis O'Keefe, 93, died peacefully Oct. 10, 2012, at her home of 44 years on Lanes Island in Vinalhaven.

    Born May 22, 1919, in Framingham, Mass., she was the daughter of Edmund Sanford Lewis and Myrtie Holbrook Lewis.

    Priscilla graduated from Wellesley College in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a major in Geography.
