     SPRUCE HEAD — Bradley D. ‘Butch’ Rackliff, 59, passed away February 3, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport, after fighting a brave battle against cancer.  Born in Rockland, April 28, 1958, he was the youngest son of Norma J. and the late Alvin B. Rackliff of Spruce Head.  He attended schools in St. George and Thomaston and proudly earned his GED in later years.  Growing up he was fondly known as the ‘little agitator’ and ‘the Geritol Kid’

     BELFAST - Arthur “Bubby” Carter, 73, died peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at a nursing facility where he had been admitted for hospice.

    Born February 21, 1944 he was a life-long resident of the Tenants Harbor, St. George, Rockland area. He was the son of Arthur Anderson and Edna Phyllis Carter.  He is survived by his children; grandchildren; siblings, and mother. He was loved and known by all in the community.

    Born at Vinalhaven, September 4, 1923, she was the daughter of Ira and Elsie Brown MacDonald.  Marjorie enjoyed time spent outside in her garden and with her beloved pets.  She also loved time spent with the Lord, and was a woman of unshakable faith.

Roberts, 68, of Rockland died Saturday, January 13, 2018 surrounded by his wife and children at the Sussman House in Rockport following a very brief illness.  Steve came to the Midcoast just over 10 years ago, planning to only stay a short while, but quickly fell in love with the area and its people and made it his permanent home.  He and his wife, Vera Rand, were married on November 24, 2012.

    Virginia was a beautiful and talented woman. She was born in Catskill, New York and met Clayton in college. They married and had three children, Kathy, Jeffrey and Victoria.

    Virginia and Clayton moved to Maine in 1971. Using their combined talents, they started a successful business called "Jonah's Workshop" and sold cards and matted prints internationally which portrayed their own artwork.

    ROCKPORT — Gregory Stephan Kuzma passed away on January 6, 2018 at the age of 94 years. Gregory was born in the small city of Zolochiv, Ukraine, July 2, 1923. He completed his university studies at the Lviv Polytechnic University and his postgraduate studies in mechanical engineering at Karlsruhe University in Germany. He emigrated to the United States in 1950 where he met his wife, Irene, at the Ukrainian Engineers Ball in Philadelphia.

    Born in Springfield Massachusetts, on May 5 1921, the fifth of six children, she grew up exceedingly proud of her Irish heritage and was a lifelong devout practicing Catholic.

    Philip A. Reed, Jr., 89, died January 4, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.  He was born November 20, 1928 in Friendship to Philip A. Reed, Sr. and Mildred Simmons Reed.  Philip graduated from Waldoboro High School.

    He worked as a lobsterman both on Crie Haven (Ragged Island) and Friendship until he retired. He enjoyed going to his house in Florida with his wife, Evelyn, and traveling.
