  • Phillip Darrow Dyer, obituary

    VINALHAVEN — Phillip Darrow Dyer, aka "Filo", 91, died on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta where he had resided for several months. Born on January 15, 1927, Phil was one of eight children born to Leslie B. and Hazel (Rogers) Dyer. Phil attended Vinalhaven schools and at the age of 17, left to join the U.S. Navy. He served during World War II and was stationed at Pensacola Naval Air Station and married Sadie Gustavson on September 26, 1950.

    WALDO — Catherine Berry Watson passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 29, 2017 surrounded by her family. Cathy was born in Searsport, Maine on December 13,1938 to George L and Pearle (Reynolds) Berry.

    Cathy was a kind and generous woman who loved to laugh with her friends. She enjoyed taking long rides and stopping at yard sales. She enjoyed interior decorating and crafts, fall being her favorite season. 

    She loved colors and watching deer.

    GEORGIA — Philip Michael Dodge, 60, died March 6, 2018 in Jesup, Georgia.

    He was born on March 11, 1957 to George I. and Alice (MacLeod) Dodge Jr. Phil grew up in Owls Head and Augusta. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served oversees on a destroyer. Never one to stay in one place, he traveled from Maine to Florida working parades, carnivals and at Mardi Gras each year. Phil's hobbies included riding motor cycles, hunting and fishing.

    Katherine Ruth (Beal) Reynolds was called to be with her Lord in Heaven March 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

    Katherine was the daughter of Dorothy and Walter Beal of Swanville, Maine. Katherine was born August 18, 1935 and grew up on the family farm in Swanville. There she developed a love for nature and the outdoors.

    She was the youngest of four and with family influence, developed a life-long love for baking.

(Gurney) Greeley.    Marion attended the Morrill Village School, was a member of the Class of 1942 at Crosby High School, and received her Registered Nursing degree from Waldo County General Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1945.

    He attended Crosby High School in Belfast and graduated in 1961. He joined the Maine National Guard in 1962 and received Honorable Discharge. Ronald joined the Masons in 1968 and is still current with them.
