    Stacy G. Lanphier, 71, of Brooks and Belfast, died August 2, 2018 following several years of struggle with COPD and cancer. He is best known as the production manager of the Waldo Independent, a Belfast-based weekly newspaper that challenged the Republican Journal for more than two decades, beginning in1985.

    For more than 35 years, Joan worked at Green Island Packing and Port Clyde Foods, both in Rockland.

     THOMASTON — Stephen K. Lilienthal passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2018.  He was 56 years old. 

    Steve was born April 10, 1962 in Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y.  He spent all his early summers at his grandmothers, Adella (Gilmore) Kirkpatrick’s, house in Thomaston.  When he was six years old he and his family moved back to Thomaston permanently.

    CAMDEN — Missie Ryder Stone died July 20.  She had been coming to Maine for more than 40 years and became a resident in 2012 when she moved to Quarry Hill in Camden.  

    She was born on March 15, 1916 to James P. and Nelle A. Ryder in Washington D.C.  Her father was a civil engineer and the family moved around the West and Midwest throughout her childhood.

Peg was active to the end, dining with her family out by the town harbor and on Sarah's deck the two evenings prior to her sudden death at the Pen Bay Medical Center from respiratory failure.

    Ginny married Roscoe ‘Hermie’ Gross on October 7, 1943.  The pair settled in Rockland soon after they were married.  For many years Ginny was a homemaker.

    Born July 31, 1944, in the birthing home at Holmes Street in Rockland, he was the son of Ralph and Barbara Lindsey Ludwig.  When he was six years of age, John’s mother remarried and he was raised by his stepfather, Llewellyn Baines.
