    THOMASTON — Edwin Maurice Leach passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his home in Hudson, MA.

    Edwin was born on December 9, 1927 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. His parents were the Rev. Hubert Leach and Nina Eva Carr Leach.

    ROCKPORT — Our beloved mother and Nana left this earth on June 6, 2019 at 101 years old. Born in Lincolnville on January 30, 1918 and was the daughter of Austin and Edna (Packard) Rankin. 

    Annie May Rankin Young Spirio lived in the communities of Camden and Rockport her entire life.

    CAMDEN — Margaret Stever Hjelm, a resident of Camden and retired teacher at Hampden Academy, died June 7 at her home. She was 90.

    Margaret – Peg to her friends – was born March 30, 1929, in Windber, Pennsylvania, the younger of two daughters of J. Louis Stever, president of the Windber Trust Company and an administrator of Windber Hospital, and Margaret Powell Stever, a homemaker.

    UNION — Gary Escorsio, 66, died unexpectedly in Rockport, ME, on May 25, 2019.

    He will be remembered by those who loved him for his good humor and love of a good time.

    Gary was born March 31, 1953 in Camden to John Herbert and Marianne Francis Prescott Escorsio. He graduated from Rockland High School in 1971.

    A hard worker, Gary’s longest-standing job was with Central Maine Power for 30 years.

    VINALHAVEN — William Gilchrist ‘Will’ Bunker, left us all too soon, Sunday, May 26, 2019.

    Will was the owner of Bunker’s Trucking and Bunker’s L.P. Gas. He could drive a tractor-trailer like others drive a compact car. Driving a truck just came natural to him. He probably plowed through the gates of heaven
    driving 18 wheels at full speed. Will loved Golden Retrievers, especially Buddy, Bear, and Honey. He also loved his M&M’s and Budweiser.

    Born in Gardiner on September 21, 1937, she was the daughter of Carl W. and Arlene (Holt) Small. She married William Jake Lermond on October 5, 1952, in Rockport.

    BROOKS — Fenalyn A. Jameson, 88, of Brooks, passed away June 3, 2019, in Belfast. She was born in Belfast October 16, 1930, to Benjamin and Evelyn (Fenalson) Robertson.

    She loved reading her mystery novels, watching her crime shows and going for very long car rides – she could ride all day and all night.

    Fenalyn loved being around family and friends and her little doggie, Jack.

    She was well loved and will be sincerely missed.

    Born in Rockland, to Gertrude (Johnston) Sylvester Davis and Edward Sylvester, Roberta married Arthur Staples in 1946 and together they raised four children.

    In 1958, she joined the First National Bank of Rockland, which later became Maine National Bank, until she retired as a Loan Officer in 1982.

    Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Gloria graduated from Wayland High School and worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Wayland Superintendent of Schools.

    On April 19, 1947, Gloria married Herbert (Hub) Schleicher in Cochituate, MA. They moved to Connecticut in 1964.

    Victor loved to help others putting them before himself. He was a great joke-teller and loved a good conversation.

    Beverly married Kenneth L. Mignault on October 26, 1945. He passed away December 9, 1977 at the age of 51.

    Born in Rockland, October 22, 1933, she was the daughter of Dr. James P. and Mary Flanagan Kent. Educated in Rockland schools, she was a graduate of Rockland High School, class of 1952.

    Carol began her career with New England Telephone & Telegraph Company at the age of 16, and retired 33 years later as the editor of the corporate newspaper.

    CAMDEN — Bessie M. French, 81, passed on May 27, 2019 in Camden.

    She was born on July 25, 1937 in Newburyport, MA and was the daughter of Percy and Hazel Lounsbury.

    Bessie married John R. French Sr. on October 9, 1954 and together they had seven children. While her husband was the light house keeper, Bessie spent most of her time raising their children living on Curtis Island.

    WARREN — Peter M. Brackett lost his battle with cancer peacefully on May 19, 2019. He was 55 years old.

    Peter grew up in New Harbor, Maine and attended Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.

    He was raised on the ocean, with sea legs as soon as he could walk. He was an avid fisherman, and was in his glory when he was on the water.

    Other than spending time with family and friends, there was nothing he enjoyed more. He loved animals, and was never without a “pup” in his life.

    Jessica grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools. She graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the class of 2002. She was an outstanding athlete all of her school years, and loved her teammates like sisters.

    Born on Matinicus Isle, July 29, 1929, she was the daughter of Cecelia and Maxwell Young. She lived for a time on both, Matinicus and Crie Haven.

    She was a graduate of Rockland High School, and a member of the National Honor Society. Her first job was working for Dr. Barbara Fuller in Rockland.

    THOMASTON — Lloyd D. Richards, 97, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, May 23, 2019.

    Born in Searsmont, November 23, 1921, he was the son of George and Abbie Richards. He attended school on Moody Mountain in Searsport, before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Darby’s Ranger during World War II.

    He often spoke of his life while he served in the military and of his younger days on Moody Mountain.

    SOUTH THOMASTON — Martha E. Alley, 67, beloved mother of Jeremy Alley, died unexpectedly, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at her home.

    Born in Rockland, November 15, 1951, she was the daughter of Arthur, Sr. and Lucy Rackliff Alley. Martha had an extraordinary youth playing with her cousins and a menagerie of unique pets at her Grammie’s house.
    Many comedic stories of her youth in Spruce Head have been told over the years. She was educated locally, graduating from Rockland High School.

    Donald P. “Pete” Stein went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2019.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Ernestine “Snooky” Stein and his daughter Deirdre (Tallberg) Stein.

    He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stein, of Camden, his son, John Stein and his wife Sue of Rockland, his daughter Kathi Jones and her husband Andrew of Union, grandson John Stein of Belfast, granddaughters Allison Jencks of Jefferson and Madison Tallberg of Rockland.
