Belfast Farmer’s Market offers ‘taste of the market’ March 16
BELFAST — The public is invited to a St. Patrick's Day Taste of the Market, Friday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Belfast Farmers' Market's winter home, in the greenhouse at Aubuchon Hardware in Belfast.
Market members cook up and put out a spread of dishes for sampling. Each is made with ingredients they grow or produce and that are available at the market. It's a great way to get ideas for how to use locally produced vegetables and value added foods in new and different ways, and sample what's in season, in storage or newly harvested or produced. The tasting is free and open to all.
The Market's newest member is Wild Blueberry Hill Farm from Harborside, Maine. They have joined the winter market and will be selling dumplings and other products throughout the remainder of the winter market season.
2017 Maine Harvest Bucks can still be redeemed for qualifying foodstuffs at market until March 31, after which, they expire. Harvest Bucks are a Maine sponsored nutrition incentive program. Belfast Farmers' Market also accepts SNAP and EBT market wide for qualifying purchases.
The Market is celebrating its 38th season, open year-round every Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be moving back outdoors to its summer home at Waterfall Arts in mid-April.
