Support youth farming at the 4th annual Union Fair Youth Market Auction
UNION — The 4th Annual Union Fair Youth Market Auction will take place on Monday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Union Fairgrounds.
18 hardworking youth from around the state will bring steers, lambs, meat birds and laying hens to the live auction. These youth have worked hard day and night feeding, cleaning, walking and caring for these animals. They have learned not only how to feed and show an animal they are also learning responsibility, time management and how to market their animals. For many this is their summer job while others are holding down summer jobs as well as raising their animal.
Many will use the money from their projects to invest in next years project or save for their future education.
On Sunday, August 20 at 4:00 p.m. the market show will take place this is a great opportunity for potential buyers to come and watch the animals and the youth. There will be a buyers reception on Monday, August 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds, this gives potential buyers a chance to meet and talk with the youth about their animals. The Auction will follow at 6:30 p.m.
