Paul Sullivan to perform in Searsport, Dec. 4

    SEARSPORT — Paul Sullivan is a Grammy winning composer and artist. The First Congregational Church in Searsport presents him in concert with two of his friends on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. Doors will open at 2:30. The church is located at 8 Church Street, Searsport.

    The concert will feature selections from Sullivan’s Christmas in Maine CD, everyone’s favorites and a few new pieces not heard before by local audiences. Admission is by donation to support the Church and Community music programs of FCC Searsport.

    Paul Sullivan has enjoyed a richly varied and distinguished career as a composer and a pianist. As a soloist, with his trio, and as a member of the Paul Winter Consort, he has played concert tours in most of the United States and Europe, as well as the Middle East, Central America, and he received a Grammy Award for his work on the Paul Winter Consort CD, Silver Solstice.

    For this concert, Paul Sullivan will be joined by cellist Marisa Solomon, and flutist Elizabeth Downing.

    Marisa Solomon - Cello
    Cellist Marisa Solomon received performance degrees from the Oberlin College and San Francisco Conservatories. She teaches from her private studio in Bangor, as well as at the Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI). Marisa is a member of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the Ceólta Cello Duo with Noreen Silver, and is on the adjunct faculty at UMaine in Orono.

    Elizabeth Downing - Flute
    Flutist Elizabeth Downing is a soloist, chamber musician and faculty at the University of Maine School of Performing Arts where she teaches flute, flute pedagogy, majoring in music, and coaches chamber music. She received a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in German from the University of Maine and studied at the Mozarteum Conservatory of Performing Arts and the University of Salzburg in Austria. She received a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance at the University of Colorado.
