BELFAST — The Peace and Social Justice Forum/Waldo County will show the film Our Shared Future: People and Nature and Local Solutions on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at 6 p.m., in the Abbott Room, Belfast Free Library.
The film is of a panel discussion in celebration of Half-Earth Day, October 13, 2022 presented by the Smithsonian Institute and E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation.
Biologist E.O.Wilson was the creator of the Half-Earth Project-a bold call to protect 1/2 of the Earth’s surface from human development. The panel is a heart-felt discussion begun by Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation Queen Quet, that includes a diverse group of women and men who are working on projects worldwide that are committed to this goal.
“Our shared Future is a forum to share information and insight that can help us reimagine the way we care for our planet,” said Dr. Paula J. Erlich, president and CEO of the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation and co-founder of the Half-Earth Project, in a news release.
“Join us, as we gather safely for this community viewing of an important positive forum with the message that ‘We have one Earth,’ and what we can do to preserve it,” said Peace and Social Justice Forum/Waldo County.
