CAMDEN — Maine Master Gardner volunteer John Fromer will lead an outdoor presentation called “How Plants Grow (Botany in Disguise)” on Tuesday, July 19, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
In this outdoor program, John Fromer will tell the story about the life cycle of plants from spring to fall and seed to frost, explaining how understanding plants on a biological level can lead to a healthier and more beautiful garden. Following the lecture part of the presentation, the program will then explore the Merryspring gardens to examine different plants and look for clues that show their growth cycles, potential problems, and practical solutions for the home gardener.
John Fromer has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife, Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion. He currently serves on the Merryspring board of trustees.
This talk is part of Merryspring’s Outdoor Summer Talk series, sponsored by First National Bank.
Outdoor talks are held in the Hexagon at Merryspring.
The cost of this program is $5 for the general public, with a free admission for Merryspring members. No preregistration is necessary for this event.
