Due to COVID-19 staff cases resulting in short staffing, the City of Belfast Clerk, Tax and General Assistance offices located through the High Street entrance in the ground level of Belfast City Hall will be closed the week of Monday, December 27, 2021 to all in-person meetings.  

These offices will reopen on Monday, January 3, 2022 for in-person meetings and regular business hours Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The items below are transactions that will require an in-person transaction:

• Marriage Licenses
• New Resident Registrations
• Notary Services
• Any New ATV, Boat & Snowmobile Registrations
• Birth, Death & Marriage Certificates (Mail or in person)

General Assistance Office

All General Assistance requests should be sent to generalassistance@cityofbelfast.org or (207)338-3370 Ext 120 and a staff member will contact you.

All emergencies should be directed to 911.

All other offices at City Hall located through the Church Street entrance on the first and second floors will be open Monday, December 27, through Wednesday, December 29, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m..

City Hall will be closed in observance of New Year’s Day on Thursday, December 30.

All City Hall offices will reopen on Monday, January 3, 2022, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
