CAMDEN — Evelyn Small Ludwig, 95, of Camden, died on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Windward Gardens in Camden.

Born in Camden on May 16, 1926, she was the daughter of Percy and Annie (Allenwood) Small and was a 1944 graduate of Camden High School. Her first husband was Ralph Whittier, who predeceased her.

Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper at the Knox Woolen Mill in Camden, Smith’s Garage in Rockport, and later the Camden Farmer’s Union.

She had five children with her second husband, Clarence Wilson, Sr., who also predeceased her.

Her latest husband was Raymond Ludwig, of Hope, where they owned and operated Hope Orchards and started another location on Route 1 in Rockport, which is now Fresh Off The Farm. Evelyn resided in Hope for 40 years until moving to Camden several years ago.

She was predeceased by three husbands, Ralph Whittier, Clarence Wilson, Sr., Raymond Ludwig; children Linda Sprague and husband Erwin, Carol Kierstead and husband Joe, Thomas Wilson, William Wilson; step-daughter Faith Hart and husband, Obed; brother, Alton Small; and granddaughter Shelly Wilson.

Surviving is her son Clarence “Larry” Wilson, Jr. and his wife Debra of Florida; step-daughter Ann Leadbetter and husband Ron; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A service will be announced in 2022.
