LINCOLNVILLE — “Well can you believe it? Another year has slipped by, and this coming Friday, Oct. 22, weather permitting, we will meet at the end of Maiden Cliff Road off Youngtown Road for another hike to the top of Millerite Cliffs,” said Rosey Gerry, in a news release.
“I think this is the thirty year mark for me leading this annual hike, I know we may have missed a couple years because of rain,’ he said.
On Oct. 22, 1844 a lot of Lincolnville and Camden residents hiked or rode their wagons up to this famous picnic spot to be caught up in the second coming. If you google “The Great Disappointment” and or William Miller you can read more about it.
“A lot of people have made this trek with me year after year and I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new!” said Gerry.
All are welcome. Please, if you bring your dog, keep it on a leash.
“Right now long range forecast says showers, we go unless it’s a downpour!” said Gerry. “Things can change! So bring a rain coat and dry boots just in case. Also may want to bring a water bottle, cause the beer stand at top closed last weekend!”
