The Searsport 175th Committee, in conjunction with the Searsport 175th Birthday Celebration, presents Art Show 175. The public is invited to view all works of art on display at Mermaid Plaza, 1 East Main Street (formerly Jordan’s Restaurant) in Searsport.
On Friday, July 2, from 9 to noon, Art Show 175 features Plein Air. (Webster defines Plein Air as “of or relating to painting in outdoor daylight.”) The public can view several local artists creating at their easels, including stops at six familiar Searsport locations: Mosman Park, the Mill Pond (top of Steamboat Avenue), Hamilton Wharf, Penobscot Marine Museum campus, Searsport’s Main Street, and the Hamilton Learning Center on East Main Street (former Seine Loft).
“We are thrilled to report that Searsport’s Art Show 175 will include the works of 30 local artists,” said Curator Jim Rose, in a Birthday Celebration news release.
There will be many mediums featured inside the gallery located at Mermaid Plaza, including watercolor, oils, sculptures, fiber, photography and mixed media.
“We are supplying a list of artists whose work is for sale, with contact information for interested buyers,” said Rose. “While Searsport has had an Art Show in the past, there has never been one as diverse or with as many artists.”
Art Show 175 is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, from noon to 4 p.m. There is no charge to enter the art gallery.
