Due to rain, the History Talk has been canceled. Town officials hope to have a makeup date of Saturday, October 9, during Searport's Fling Into Fall celebration.

SEARSPORT — As part of the Searsport 175th Birthday Celebration, Searsport Town Historian Charlene Knox Farris is giving a free Walking Tour through the village on Friday, July 2, starting at 10 a.m., in front of the Searsport First Congregational Church. 

This leisurely, narrated tour covers a little under one mile, focuses on local landmarks and is wheelchair accessible.  

Beginning at the First Congregational Church, the tour goes to Union Hall (now the Searsport Town Office), the Carver Memorial Library, the Searsport United Methodist Church, the *block* buildings on Main Street, the corner of Main and Water Streets where the Searsport House used to stand, oceanside to Mosman Park, up Elm Street and ending at the Civil War Monument on Main Street.
