    CAMDEN — Slow art, a journey to journalism, Shakespeare plays, Ilana Blumenthal, and an Insider’s Travel Guide highlight August 2020 as the Camden Public Library continues through summer. Also continuing are yoga in the amphitheatre, purling through the pandemic, and many other library group events.

    Saturday, August 1 – Monday August 31, All Day (Online). Virtual Art Exhibit by Peggy Clark Lumpkins, August Artist-of-the-Month. Visit the library’s website at librarycamden.org/event/peggy-clark-lumpkins to view a virtual exhibit of Peggy Clark Lumpkins’ intricate land and coast “scapes” and flower paintings. Lumpkins has pledged to donate 20% of sales from her two websites to the library during the month of August.

    Monday, August 3, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Maine Mondays on Facebook Live. Each Monday on the Camden Public Library’s Facebook Page, Julia will read selections from books about Maine’s history. This program is part of the library’s year-long celebration of Maine’s Bicentennial. Recordings of the readings are available to watch afterward in the “video” section of the library’s Facebook page.

Members may also challenge other members at any time. Sound Immersion/Gong Bath in the Amphitheatre. Musical instrument creator and Sound Therapist Jim Doble will create waves of sound to help participants sonically cleanse, rejuvenate, rest, and recuperate in a safe environment. Sound bathers will be distanced at least 10-feet from one another, and the wearing of a face covering is mandatory (please bring your own). Doble also encourages participants to bring something to lie on (blanket or yoga mat).
