ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from June 29-July 2.

Joseph I. Bacon, 22, of South China, motor vehicle speeding: 30 plus miles over the speed limit in Rockland Jan. 7, 2020, $500 fine.

Brandon Betts, 23, of Cushing, operating while license suspended or revoked in Thomaston May 9, 2020, $250 fine; failing to stop for an officer in Thomaston May 9, 2020, $150 fine; driving to endanger in Thomaston May 9, 2020, $575 fine, license suspended 30 days; refusing to submit to arrest or detention, physical force in Thomaston May 9, 2020, dismissed.

Thomas H. Gleason, 32, of Rockland, disorderly conduct, loud unreasonable noise in Rockland May 31, 2020, $200 fine.

Elinor J. Grohs, 79, of Camden, operating while license suspended or revoked in Camden July 18, 2019, dismissed.

Thomas S. Hansen, 43, of Waldoboro, operating vehicle without license in Rockland Jan. 23, 2020, $150 fine.

Christopher J. Mogan, 63, of Rockland, operating while license suspended or revoked in Rockland Aug. 10, 2019, dismissed; violating condition of release in Rockland Aug. 10, 2019, dismissed; operating under the influence (alcohol) in Camden Jan. 4, 2019, dismissed.

Harold Perry, 57, of Rockland, violating protection from abuse order in Rockland Feb. 18, 2020, $250 fine.

Gavin Soule, 21, of Union, disorderly conduct, loud unreasonable noise in Rockland May 23, 2020, $200 fine.

Michael J. Warner, 41, of Portland, burglary in Rockland Sept. 3, 2015. In September 2015, Maine State Police reported that Warner was arrested as one of three suspects in connection with more that 25 burglaries across Maine. His sentence on June 29 included the Sept. 3, 2015 burglary at the former J.C. Penney’s department store in Rockland.

The commercial break-ins also included the Townline Video Plus in Warren, Flagship Cinemas in Thomaston, Lincoln’s County Store in Warren, and Palermo and Northport convenience stores.

Warner was indicted by the Knox County grand jury in February 2016 for four counts of unauthorized taking, four counts of burglary, and four counts of criminal mischief from the multiple business burglaries.

According to the indictment, the value of property stolen from specific businesses included more than $10,000 worth of property from J.C. Penney’s Department Store in Rockland, more than $10,000 of merchandise from Townline Video Plus in Warren, over $1,000 from Flagship Cinemas in Thomaston and more than $1,000 from Lincoln’s Country Store in Warren.

According to a press release from the Maine State Police, the total value of the items stolen and damages to the more than 25 businesses burglarized across Maine exceeded $200,000.

There was a delay in Warner’s sentencing due to the state’s appeal to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court of a lower court ruling that prevented the prosecution from searching Warner’s cell phone account data, which they believed contained evidence of a crime. In August 2019, the state’s highest court ruled that the cell phone records could be used in the prosecution of the case.
