comfortable Mainers, financial savings, lowered emissions, and working together for a cause

Window Dressers’ Belfast workshop planned, volunteer shifts available

Mon, 09/30/2019 - 1:15pm

BELFAST — It’s almost October and in less than 6 weeks the crew of customers and volunteers will join together at the Belfast Boathouse to make hundreds of window inserts. Orders are creeping up above 350, according to Window Dressers, in a news releaes. Seventy volunteer shifts are already filled.

Two important reminders:

All orders for the Belfast workshop must be turned in by October 16.  It may be possible to get inserts after that date, but they will have to be made elsewhere.  Orders can be submitted via the website at www.windowdressers.org or by calling 207-596-3073.

Many, many of you love to volunteer to make or wrap frames, according to Dressers. Go to www.windowdressers.org, click on volunteer, and go to the Belfast workshop to sign up. Dressers will have shifts Monday-Friday November 6 - 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,  and 1 to 5 p.m. Crews will also work Sunday afternoons, from 1 to 5 p.m., and two evenings (Nov. 12 and 14) from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lunches and coffee breaks are provided by local restaurants as well as by volunteers.

Through 2018, approximately 34,655 inserts have been built across Maine, saving a total of 1,184,540 gallons of heating fuel.

“More comfortable Mainers, savings in fuel costs, lowered carbon emissions, and working together for a great cause – what’s not to love?!” said Dressers.
