BREMEN — The group is called “Plein Air Painters - The Real Thing”, and consists of 28 painters from the Midcoast Maine area and a bit further north who paint plein air in the wider Damariscotta area on Thursday mornings during the summer months.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Thursday, July 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the Bremen Library.
The group was formed 25 years ago by several artists who painted in watercolor classes with Tom McCobb at the former Round Top Center for the Arts, in Damariscotta.
They now enjoy painting Maine’s beautiful summer scenes at a different venue every week, at either private homes or public spaces. They paint in all media: pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and pencil. Many of the painters have shown individually in the area and/or in their winter home locations, and the group as a whole has had previous shows at the Damariscotta Library, the Bristol Library, The Damariscotta River Grill, Yarmouth’s 137 Main Music Center and the Round Pond Coffee Shop.
The artists in the Bremen Library exhibition are: Carole Blanton, Marcia Brandwein, Dianne Dolan, Sarah Fisher, Caroline Janover, Penny Markley, Kay Miller, Carol Papa, Judy Schuppien, Becky Shorb, Carol Smith, Nancy Stadtlander, Kathleen Sutherland, Bob Vaughan, Connie Vickery, Carol Wiley, and Barbara Youtz.
All are welcome. FMI: 529-5572.
