ROCKPORT — On Tuesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Rockport Opera House, Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School will present the Odeon Spring Concert. Sponsored by Eleanor Barlow and Caroline Seamans, this performance is free and open to the public.
The concert features several ensembles that represent the just a few of the programs available at the music school. First on the program are the Suzuki Twinklers, a group of young strings musicians who are studying the Suzuki method for learning the violin. They will be led by their instructor, Carol Preston who has extensive training in the method.
Also featured on the program are the three Odeon ensembles: Allegro, the Chamber Ensemble and the Adult Orchestra. The Allegro group are led by Bay Chamber faculty, Maya French, Brianna Fischler and Nate Martin. Deirdre McClure, conductor of the Chamber and Adult grousps, is assisted by Nathan Hillman, viola and Gilda Joffe, violin.
The program concludes with a set performed by the Bay Chamber Jazz Ensemble, which is made up of students and faculty from the music school, including Mike Whitehead, trumpet and Nate Martin, bass. This intergenerational group will also be featured on the 4th of July Celebration in Camden, presented by the Camden Rotary.
