Unity College basketball programs finish combined 5-33

UNITY — The college basketball season has come and gone for the Unity College men’s and women’s basketball teams. 

The Rams compete in the Yankee Small College Conference under the United States Collegiate Athletic Association umbrella. 

Below is a breakdown of how both teams performed this season. 

Men’s Basketball

The Unity men’s basketball program finished the 2018-19 season with a 3-16 record 

The team collected victories over Hampshire (76-45; 76-71) and Maine-Augusta (86-60). 

Regular season losses came against Maine-Machias (85-66; 106-55), Central Maine Community (88-86; 82-68), New Hampshire Technical Institute (114-64; 110-79), Southern Maine Community (86-58; 81-58), Vermont Tech (89-66; 84-64), Maine-Augusta (70-66), Maine-Presque Isle (93-69), Green Mountain (85-42) and Paul Smith’s College (81-75; 98-68). 

The team was eliminated in the conference tournament quarterfinal round with a 102-81 loss against New Hampshire Technical Institute. 

Members of the team included Adam Merrill, Wyatt Michaud, Kyle Rigney, Ethan Bender, Den Suehiro, Jacob Hornbrook, Francesco Guerrero, Hunter Engel, Alex Mattson, Jeff Aeschlimann, Trevor Maloney, Dan Maxfield and Sam Napper. The team was coached by Bob Witts. 

Women’s Basketball

The Unity women’s basketball program finished the 2018-19 season with a 2-17 record. 

The team collected victories over Hampshire (69-10) and Paul Smith’s College (54-32). 

Regular season losses came against Maine-Machias (78-28; 91-21), Central Maine Community (83-14; 105-23), New Hampshire Technical Institute (70-33; 92-37), Southern Maine Community (77-23; 100-24), Vermont Tech (107-17; 96-34), Hampshire (50-46), Maine-Augusta (78-39; 73-46), Maine-Presque Isle (69-17; 62-20) and Green Mountain (82-17). 

The team was eliminated from the conference tournament quarterfinal round with an 85-31 loss against Southern Maine Community. 

Members of the team included Lisa Cebula, Samantha Jalkowski, Demitria Giroux, Cyndle Turcotte, Emily MacDonald, Abigail Sharp, Victoria Anderson, Lauren Simpson and Ashlyn Rogers. The team was coached by Bob Witts.
