CAMDEN — Wildlife biologist Sarah Boyden speaks about “the mysteries of bats” at Merryspring Nature Center, Tuesday, Feb., 19 at 12 pm.
Bats are fascinating creatures and one whose existence has been under threat from invasive pathogens and habitat loss for several years, according to Merryspring, in a news release.
Sarah Boyden speaks about current research on the mammals, including how to minimize the impact on bats, an update on white-nose syndrome, curious bits of bat biology, migration patterns, and conservation and laws and efforts for bats.
Boyden is an assistant regional wildlife biologist for Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Previously she served as a wildlife biologist for Maine Department of Transportation.
This lecture is part of the Winter Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial. Admission to Tuesday talks is $5, with free admission for members of Merryspring.
Merryspring is a community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round.
