BELFAST — Residents of of the Belfast area and members of The First Church came together in peace and love to remember their loved ones in a tree lighting ceremony Sunday, December 2.
Following the Advent Carol Sing, the group honored the names and memory of loved ones who have passed, then gathered on the church steps to observe the lighting of the Love Light Tree on the front lawn.
The lights of the tree, which represent each person being remembered, will continue to shine throughout the holiday season as a symbol of love and in the spirit of remembrance for all to enjoy, according to Love Lights committee member Jan Crosby Banks of The First Church.
This was the second annual lighting of the Love Light evergreen at The First Church. The hope is that the light will continue to grow each year as more community members join in honoring those they've lost.
