ROCKLAND — The Good Tern Co-op and its Hole in the Wall Bagel Shop will host a first-ever Community Bash on Saturday, Oct. 20. The event runs 12 - 3 p.m. and celebrates National Co-op Month and an expanded, shared parking lot.
Festivities taking place in the new lot, located at 750-754 Main Street, Rockland, include music, food, games and a wine tasting of fall wines.
Family-friendly, a children’s area will feature hooping, pumpkin painting and a corn hole toss. Volunteers are sought to help and may receive work credit for their time.
Shopping coupons for a month-long of specials will be available all day at either location. Anyone who signs up as a new Co-op member on Saturday will receive a $10 discount on the membership fee.
At the event Co-op members will be grilling tidbits of (free-range, grass fed) beef, pork, turkey and chicken, courtesy of A Wee Bit Farm of Orland and Pine Tree Poultry of New Sharon.
Hole in the Wall bakers will add bagel pizzas to the grill. Good Tern popcorn and Rock City Roasters’ coffee will be plentiful. Members are asked to provide pot-luck desserts.
Live music will feature talented Co-op bands, incl.: Drive by Todd, Good Vibrations, and fiddlers, Emily Jeffries & Friends.
Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun! The interested public is especially invited to take advantage of October’s discount coupons to try shopping at the Co-op, according to a news release.
Good Tern Natural Foods is a cooperative market specializing in organic and locally grown products, whose further mission is to educate co-op members and the greater community about whole foods, health and nutrition, food sources and to further cooperative principles and self-reliance.
In Spring, 2018, the Co-op purchased its abutting business, Hole in the Wall Bagels. Now also offering New York-style and gluten-free bagels, the Co-op is open to all and new members are always welcome.
