Throughout life we mark major milestones, celebrating events that represent achievements that are important to our growth and success. As Franklin D. Roosevelt so aptly said, “happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.”
It is with great joy and pride that this year Michael Good Designs has the honor to be marking and celebrating 50 years of Michael Goods' career as a jeweler, sculptor, and artist.
Michael Good Gallery, at 325 Commercial Street (Route 1) in Rockport, will hold its 19th annual Summer Celebration the August 17, 5-7 p.m. Festivities are free and open to the public and will include refreshments and live music from the phenomenal youth jazz trio, The Extension Chords.
The exhibits will include a retrospective of Michaels work, starting with some of his very first endeavors in 1968, to his most recent one-of-a-kind works created especially for this show.
Michael will be available to sign copies of his book, Michael Good Jewelry Sculpture, written and produced by French writer Francoise Claire. The book showcases a broad spectrum of Michaels work through images by Thierry Depagne, and many of the pieces in the book will be on display.
In addition to the extensive collection of Michaels work, included in the presentation will be arework by many other Good family members. Paintings by Ivan Good, Laurent Good, Fred Good, and Linette Good, prints by Karen Good, and hand-made knives by Anton Good will be shown.
Michael Good Gallery is also thrilled to introduce Ana Pearson. Ana, attended Parsons School of design and interned for a year with iconic mid-coast artist, Alan Magee. Anas’ pen and ink drawings combine colorful graphic fractal patterns with asymmetrical and natural elements, creating beautifully accessible colorful images.
The gallery is currently open Monday-Saturday 10-6 and by chance or appointment on Sunday.
