CAMDEN — BestLit Review, hosting a summer series of Writers Workshops at the Camden Public Library, announces a workshop on the skills of Presenting.
The workshop takes place Sunday, June 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. (To follow a practice workshop on June 16, in the History Room.)
Event organizer Eva Morris invites authors, poets, play or screenplay writers, all performing artists, to practice their presenting skills in a friendly, positive environment.
Participants will begin with an indoor practice including the use of microphones, and speakers, in the Picker Room. Writers will then have the opportunity to read their work again, in the outside amphitheater, which will be set up for the Jazz Festival.
In one day, Workshop participants will be able to read their words twice and practice in two professional environments. This workshop is a way to strengthen and hone a writers skills in presenting ones written work. No prior experience required.
Eva Morris, presentor of the dynamic workshop, emphasizes, in a news release, that "All writers, poets, and authors must be able to present their work properly. Its not an easy challenge, ecspecially if one is camera-shy. But it doesnt negate the fact that properly presenting your words in public is a skill a writer must have. In the course of your career you'll never know when you will be called upon to present your work, so I invite all writers and storytelling performers to take this good opportunity to learn, and improve, and prepare for that important moment."
Each writer will read for up to 10 minutes, and the opportunity is available for writers to be recorded. This private recording will be emailed to them, to watch and learn from.
"This hands-on method is one of the best for drawing writers attention to their own power of presentation," said Morris, in the release.
Evolved presenters are encouraged to use either of these recordings as potential YouTube videos, or as an addition to their professional author sites.
Participants share for camerawork: $20 (BLR Authors: free)
