Clear the streets so the snowplows can get to work

Winter parking ban reminder for Camden and Rockport

Fri, 01/18/2019 - 2:30pm

The Camden and Rockport Police Departments reminds the public that a winter parking ban is in effect, and with the oncoming storm, alternative plans may have to be made concerning the proper and safe parking of vehicles.

The Town of Camden overnight parking ban in effect runs through April 1; parking restrictions include a ban on leaving vehicles for more than 30 minutes on any Camden street between the hours of 1 and 5 a.m.

The Town of Rockport parking ban is also in effect and extends through April 15. All on-street and highway parking is prohibited from midnight to 6 a.m.

“A violation can earn the registered vehicle owner a parking ticket and if it is determined the parked vehicle is impeding and interfering with snow removal, it is subject to towing at the owner’s expense,” said Police Chief Randy Gagne, in a news release.

“With the impending storm beginning on Saturday and forecasted to go through the day on Sunday, both Camden and Rockport Police and Public Works departments will be out in force and this reminder is being made to make our town’s roadways and parking areas safe for everyone,” he said. “We ask that you do your part in helping by finding alternative parking until the storm diminishes.

“We encourage everyone to stay off the roadways during this major storm event as snow is forecasted to be between 1 to 3 inches per hour. Staying off the roadways not only makes it safer for you but those who are working hard to clear the roadways and parking lots.”

If you have an emergency during this time, dial 911 for any emergency or 236-3030 and speak with the Knox County Regional Communication Center.
