ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer hosted undefeated Brunswick at Don Palmer Field in Rockport for a Friday afternoon contest, and tamed the visiting Dragons.

The host Windjammers handed Brunswick a 2-0 defeat in a contest that Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley called a great way to end the week and a yeoman-like effort.

Charlie Pons opened the scoring, courtesy a Cam Brown assist, after receiving a pass into the penalty area and calmly striking it into the lower corner.

Pons earned a penalty kick after being taken down by a Brunswick defender inside the penalty area at the 26th minute of the first half.

Max Welt took the ensuing penalty kick and placed the ball into the lower corner.

The Windjammers held an advantage in shots 16-9 and an advantage in corners 9-5. Henry Pharris tallied four saves in the net for the Windjammers to earn his third shutout of the season. Brady LaForge finished with five saves for Brunswick.

“Playing three games in four days could have been a struggle but our preparation for the season and fitness levels really helped us be able to perform this week,” said Hurley. “The team moved the ball well today and our defense held firm. We are looking forward to a hopefully more normal week next week with just two games and some time to recover in between. Everyone in the team is really excited and contributing right now so it's a special time to be playing soccer.”
