Weekly Poets’ Corner readings celebrate Poetry Month

ROCKPORT — Join Rockport Library each Thursday in April, at 4 p.m., for a poetry reading hosted by the Rockport Poets’ Corner.

George S. Chappell Memorial Poetry Reading , Thursday, April 4, at 4 p.m.

The Rockport Poets’ Corner will be reading the work of George Chappell, longtime member and co-founder of the group. Chappell spent most of his adult life writing, and in 2018 released his last collection of poetry, A Smattering of Stanley.

Susan Taylor, Thursday, April 11, at 4 p.m.

Taylor has lived in Germany, Colombia, Alaska and many states in the eastern U.S. In 1984 she moved with her family to Liberty, where she felt immediately at home. She was inspired to write poetry after the death of her mother from Alzheimer’s Disease and by her own aging process.

Jim Ostheimer, Thursday, April 18, at 4 p.m.

A Yale graduate, Ostheimer has been a writer for many years. He founded the Rockland Poetry Workshop and has published three books: Blue Yonder, Witness, and Harbor Lights. Ostheimer lives in Rockport and serves on the Rockport Planning Board. He will be reading from a selection of his poetry.

Rockport Poets’ Corner Reading, Thursday, April 25, at 4 p.m.

The Rockport Poets’ Corner is a group of local poets that meet at the Rockport Public Library twice each month. Each member will be reading poems from their new Chapbook.
