BELFAST – Waldo Community Action Partners has agreed to assume Public Transportation Services in the areas of MDOT Region 5 currently being served by Coastal Transportation, Inc.

Region 5 consists of Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and Waldo Counties, as well as the municipalities of Brunswick and Harpswell.

WCAP has been providing demand response public transportation services in Waldo County since the community action agency first launched its Sea-ME public transportation program in 1972. On April 23, WCAP will provide these same services to the remainder of Region 5, except for the Brunswick Explorer Bus Service which will be provided by another organization.

Waldo Community Action Partners seeks to retain Coastal Trans, Inc.'s staff in order to ensure the changeover is successful. WCAP's Executive Director, Keith Small, issued the following statement on the matter in a news release.

"We look forward to working with the staff of Coastal Trans, Inc. to effect a transition with as little disruption to the regular CTI ridership as possible. We are fortunate to be able to rely on their years of experience providing transportation services to our neighboring Mid-Coast communities and anticipate a smooth transition come April 23rd."

Waldo Community Action Partners is a charitable, educational, private non-profit organization located in Belfast, Maine.
