THOMASTON — The nonprofit Watts Hall Community Arts is preparing to offer its first season of activities on the second floor of the historic downtown building. To kick off the Fall/Winter slate of events, WHCA is throwing a gala evening of live music, dancing and more on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mondaynite Jazz Orchestra will provide the music. The Midcoast-based group performs a variety of musical styles including traditional big band, Latin, funk and blues. Vocal numbers also are included. MoJO performs a number of professional engagements every year, including performances in support of nonprofit organizations.
The dancing will be fueled by hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The gala also will include an art show and silent auction in the Watts Hall Gallery, as well as the announcement of upcoming events at Watts Hall.
Tickets for the gala are $35, available in advance via Eventbrite by going to WattsHallGala.eventbrite.com.
Artists interested in having their work in the gala’s art showcase or those who wish to donate silent auction items are encouraged to send email to email@example.com.
The group’s website, wattshallthomaston.com, also has contact information and a calendar of events that is regularly updated, according to Watts Hall Community Arts, in a news release.
