Waldoboro Police beat: Stolen debit card, cash, jewelry

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 177 calls for service from Sept. 10-18. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Sept. 10      

    Officer Dwight Jones investigated an accident on the Union Road at 9:54 p.m. Kaleigh Curtis, 20, of Warren, was traveling northbound following the roadway, lost control and went off the road, rolling in the process.                    

    Officer Nathaniel Jack investigated an accident at the Kaler’s Corner/Main Street/Bremen Road intersection at 1:45 p.m. An unknown vehicle was last seen on the Kaler’s Corner Road traveling west, turning in front of Rachel McPhee, 42, of Waldoboro, who was traveling southbound on Main Street. McPhee was unable to avoid hitting the unknown vehicle.

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway. Ronald Hersh, 73, of Camden was traveling eastbound, following the roadway, and failed to see Chad Burns, 50, of Friendship, who was also headed eastbound, stopped in traffic.

    Sept. 12                                             

    Juvenile, 17, of Warren, was issued a summons by Jack for speed.

    Jack is investigating a report from Irving about the theft of cigarettes.

    Sept. 14                                             

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that someone used his debit card.                

    Fuller investigated an accident at the Main Street/Jefferson Street/Friendship Road intersection at 3:03 p.m. Dennis Sposato, 51, of Dresden, was stopped at the stop sign on Jefferson Street, started to cross Main Street and struck Glen Melvin, 58, of Waldoboro, who was traveling on Main Street, following the roadway.

    Sept. 16                                             

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen about criminal mischief to his tractor.

    Sept. 17                                             

    Bartunek investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 5:55 p.m. Everett Draper, 30, of South Thomaston, was traveling eastbound following the roadway, fell asleep, ran off the road, striking a guide wire and a tree, coming to rest in a ditch.

    Sept. 18                                             

    Police Chief John Lash, Officers Bartunek, and Justin Hills are investigating a report from a citizen of a robbery with $1500 cash and $200 jewelry stolen.
