Waldoboro clinches top seed with win over Rockland Ford

WALDOBORO — In a Thursday evening showdown to determine which team will carry the No. 1 seed in the Midcoast Babe Ruth League playoffs, Rockland Ford (7-2) and Waldoboro (8-1) squared off at Begely Field in Waldoboro. 

Rockland Ford plated four runs in the sixth inning in a rally attempt, recorded 11 hits, committed five errors and stranded nine runners on base. 

Waldoboro plated a run each in the first and second innings, three in the third and five in the sixth. They also collected 10 hits, committed no errors and left nine on base. 

At the plate for Rockland Ford were Taygan McAllister (double), Jacob Watkinson (two singles, run), Dylan Winslow (single, run), Dylan Chairamonte (single, run), Bryson Mattox (single, run, RBI), Parker Darge (RBI), Josh Pratt (single), Gilbert Stewart (single, RBI), Joey Brown (single), Dominic Frisone (RBI) and Kavie Maloney (single). 

At the plate for Waldoboro were Jaiden Starr (single, two runs), Aaron Reed (double, two runs), Porter Gahagen (run), Issac Simmons (two singles, two doubles, two runs, five RBI), Sam Moody (two singles, run), Kyle Smith (run, RBI), Gabe Lash (single, two RBI) and Walker Simmons (single, double, run). 

Pitching for Rockland Ford were Watkinson, Stewart and Winslow. Meanwhile, pitching for Waldoboro were Gahagen and Lash (6).
