Waldo County deputies respond to separate car wrecks, three deceased

Both Waldo County crashes occurred in early morning hours Aug. 12

    Two separate single vehicle accidents Aug. 12, have left three dead and two critically wounded, according to a media report from Sergeant Nicholas Oettinger, of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. 

    The first accident occurred around 1:20 a.m. on Loggins Road in Frankfort, where a single vehicle rolled over, killing the 29 year old driver. The man, identified as Michael Butler, of Winterport, was reportedly deceased when deputies reached the scene.

    The second crash happened just after 5 a.m. on Route 1 in Prospect, near the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.

    Deputies determined that the crash occurred after the driver of a sedan failed to navigate a corner after exiting the bridge.

    Of the four people in the car, a male and female, identified as Daniel Huntington, 39, of New Jersey, and Sarah Brown, 37, of Monroe, were found deceased upon arrival.

    Two other male occupants, Alexander Brown, 22, of Prospect, and Roger Brown, 45, of Prospect, were transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

    The cause of both crashes remain under investigation.
