MACHIAS — The 11/12 year-old state baseball tournament is being held in Machias, hosted by the Machias Area Little League, July 20-26 and the Midcoast region was represented by the Waldo County Little League 11/12 year-old baseball team.

Other teams participating in the state tournament, aside from Waldo County (District 2), include Machias Area (District 1), Old Town (District 3), Saco (District 4), Lewiston (District 5) and Scarborough (District 6). 

The winner of the state tournament advances to the New England regional tournament to be held Aug. 5-11 in Bristol, Connecticut.

In the state tournament, Waldo County went 0-2 with a loss to Lewiston (2-1) and Scarborough (6-1).
