THORNDIKE — Approximately one year after being hired as the new boys basketball coach at Mount View High School, Jeremy Von Oesen has been hired as the school’s new boys soccer coach.

The Mustangs boys soccer team finished the 2018 season with a 15-1 record after being eliminated in the regional quarterfinals by Brewer.

Von Oesen is a 1994 graduate of the Thorndike school and played soccer, basketball and baseball as a Mustang. After high school, he played four seasons of soccer and one season of baseball at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

In fact, the three sports he played as a Mustang still remain a large part of his life today.

In October 2018, Von Oesen noted he plays soccer and basketball in men’s leagues, in addition to playing in a softball league.

Von Oesen has most recently spent time as the head soccer coach for both the men’s and women’s teams at Unity College. He has also been coaching youth and rec-league basketball teams since high school.

Von Oesen could not be reached for comment on his new coaching duties. As such, it was not immediately clear if he will continue with his collegiate coaching duties.
