BELFAST — The first full day of the 13th annual Maine Celtic Celebration got off to a blistering start Saturday, with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees.

There were 21 vendors in all at the Celebration, which has a suggested donation of $15 per person to get in. The event will continue Sunday, July 21, on the Belfast waterfront.

The multi-day event offers a number of attractions, including the highland games, cheese roll, sheepdog herding, a variety of musical acts, and a kilt competition, among many others.

Saturday’s festivities will draw to a close with a firework display at 9:20 p.m., which is sponsored by the City of Belfast.

For those considering attending Sunday, the New World Cheese Roll Championship will take place at 1:15 p.m., while the Highland Games will take place from 9-3 p.m.

The Celtic Celebration is organized by the all-volunteer Maine Celtic Celebration Committee.

Sponsors of the celebration include Nordic Aquafarms, the City of Belfast, and Front Street Pub among many others.
