symphonic piece about climate change

Virtual introduction to Bangor Symphony director’s composition: ‘The Warming Sea’

Event has passed

Thursday, November 4, at 6:30 p.m., the Belfast Free Library will host Lucas Richman and Kate Dickerson for an introduction to “The Warming Sea,” a symphony about Climate Change composed by Richman.

In January of 2019, Kate Dickerson, founder and director of the Maine Science Festival, commissioned Bangor Symphony Music Director Lucas Richman to compose a symphonic piece about climate change in the Gulf of Maine. The Maine Science Festival team arranged a series of discussions between Richman and climate experts up and down the coast of Maine. These conversations, as well as perspectives provided by middle school students throughout Maine, provided the foundation for “The Warming Sea.”

Join the Library for this discussion about the creation of The Warming Sea, and learn more about its debut by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in March of 2022.
